My name is Joseph Chartier. I was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts and moved to Washington State in 1991 upon going on inactive reserves. I am currently the Commander of VFW Old Guard Post 2100.
I graduated from Haverhill High School in 1979 and entered the US Air Force in 1981. While in the Air Force I worked as a Munitions Inspector, Missile Assembly, and the destruct systems for the Space Shuttle. I cross trained into Personnel later in my career. I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska; Vandenberg AFB, California; Spangdahlem AB, West Germany; and Dyess AFB, Texas. While on active duty I also went on temporary duty at Zaragoza AB, Spain; and served in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait during Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
I work full time at Swedish Hospital as an ICU Cardiac Tech. I am also a Supervisor for the Athletics Department at the University of Washington, in charge of the First Aid branch of Customer Service. I am also a mobile notary who serves Veterans for free. I currently live in Stanwood with my Wife, Kristi, my Mother-In-Law, Cheryl and our cats, Mac, Lucy and Ethel.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Post.
